Summary outline
This seminar is intended to offer participants an opportunity to engage in a sustained discussion on bioethical themes. With a maximum of 25 participants, there will be ample time to discuss all the papers submitted by participants extensively. Indeed, the academic program of the colloquium will be created based on the submissions by the participants.
Format
While the Colloquium will provide plenty of food for thought, there will also be ample time for shared meals with a nice glass of wine, relaxation in the beautiful surroundings, and cultural enrichment.
Submissions by participants
Each participant is invited and indeed encouraged to prepare presentation, to be given during the seminar. While this presentation may cover a completed bioethics project, a “work-in-progress” that can benefit from peer feedback can be submitted as well. For each presentation, at least 45 minutes will be set aside for an in-depth discussion.
2024 keynote speaker
Henk ten Have, MD, PhD is Professor Emeritus of Healthcare Ethics at Duquesne University (USA) and Research Professor at the Faculty of Bioethics of Anahuac University (Mexico). Program
The seminar will start on Monday September 23 at 15:30. It will end on Thursday September 26 at 15:30. Since the program will be composed based on submissions from participants, the exact schedule will be available only towards the start of the Colloquium. The approximate schedule for the Colloquium is as follows:

Language
The seminar is held in English. There will not be simultaneous language in other languages. However, non-native speakers should not hesitate to register, as long as they have solid conversational competency in English. What matters is a willingness to engage in the discussions and not be worried about linguistic imperfections.
Certificate
Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion, detailing the seminar program, contact hours completed, and other pertinent information.
Registration & fee
Attendance is limited to 20 participants. Registration for the seminar can be done via the online registration form. We will let you know within 72 hours if there still is availability.
The seminar fee schedule is as follows:
Regular (applicable as long as spots remain): US$ 890 (or Euro 810)
— Early payment in full (i.e., before September 1): US$ 815 (or Euro 740)
(Graduate) student (upon proof of student status): US$ 740 (or Euro 675)
— Early student payment in full (i.e., before September 1): US$ 670 (or Euro 610)
The fee includes:
- Participation in all sessions
- 3 days of residence in a single room (with private bathroom)*
- All breakfasts, coffee breaks, and lunches as well as most dinners
- Programmed excursion to Avignon and evening outing to Pont-du-Gard
- Pick-up (at arrival) and drop-off (at departure) at the Avignon-TGV train station
* If available, an extra night can be booked before the start of the seminar (night from September 22 to 23), A simple supper will be available the evening of September 22, On the 23rd, following breakfast, transportation to-and-the charming town of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon will be offered prior to the seminar start for those interested in visiting its beautiful historic sites.
The conference center also has double rooms. Please contact the conference organization if you wish to share a bedroom with another course participant, or if you wish to bring a partner who will not attend the seminar. A limited social program for non-participants will be available at an extra fee.
